The open call will be held from 28 March to 22 April The theme for the session of the Economic and Social Council is "Implementing the post development agenda: This is a unique opportunity for organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC - and for civil society at large - to be heard at ECOSOC deliberations, as well as to contribute to issues of critical concern to the global development agenda.
It will also provide a platform to address specifically, steps toward implementation, follow-up and review of the Agenda for Sustainable Development to track progress at all levels and ensure that no one is left behind.
The HLS will include the three-day ministerial meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development HLPFconvened under the auspices of the Council; the high-level policy dialogue with international financial and trade institutions; the biennial Development Cooperation Forum; and the thematic discussion on "Infrastructure for sustainable development for all".
The theme of the HLPF, "Ensuring that no one is left behind", will provide an opportunity to focus on the goals and policy choices that will benefit the poorest and most vulnerable among us.
Implementing the Agenda for Sustainable Development - 29 February to 25 March Stakeholders, experts, practitioners and policy-makers from all over the world are invited to engage in a global dialogue on specific aspects of the ECOSOC theme of "Implementing the post development agenda: The e-Discussion will provide the Economic and Social Council with suggestions and recommendations on how to best address implementation challenges of the new Agenda, with a special focus on the national level.
The discussion consists of three concurrently running thematic windows, each led by an expert moderator.
The thematic windows address: Scope and implications of the Agenda for Sustainable Development. Inthe Committee will consider new applications, in addition to applications deferred from previous sessions, quadrennial reports of NGOs in general and special consultative status and 47 quadrennial reports deferred from earlier sessions.
These numbers indicate a sharp growth in the workload over past years. This session will conclude the Commission's review and policy cycle under the priority theme, "Rethinking and Strengthening Social Development in the Contemporary World. Deliberations during the Commission will be executed through high-level panel discussions as well as general discussions amongst the Members of the Commission and other stakeholders.
Scheduled side-events will also take place to enhance and enrich discussions of the priority theme. The Forum will support participants in refining their understanding of the relationship between CsocD54 and Agendaand formulating concrete recommendations for the Commission.
